Nick Places 6th at ADGP Rd3 & is now 3rd in the Championship

Round 3 of The Australian Drifting Grand Prix was run over the last weekend at Sydney MotorSport Park on the Amazing South Circuit.
This track consists of a big run up entry over a hill into a tight left hand turn with a inner clipping point & then transitioning into a right hand turn with a outer clipping point pushing up the hill to another outside clip whilst turning left & finally to the last clipping point at the top of the circuit.

Team XForce posing for a shot just before practise & qualifying started on Saturday

Qualifying didn't go to plan & Nick had a spin on his first Run as he was trying to make an aggressive switch coming out of the second Clipping point.
The next run Nick put in a nice safe run to make sure he was on the right side of the qualifying ladder & qualified 13th

Top 32 Battle was against Ender Esenyel from Victoria.
Nick being the higher qualifier lead first & put down a killer lap putting a big gap on Ender. Ender then called for 5 minuets with a mechanical issue & returned to the start line with his car stuck in 3rd gear.
After a slower start than normal Nick got on Enders door & never left it handing the unanimous win to the DriftKid.

Top 16 Driver intro & signing at the Lunch time pit walk for the crowds

After Lunch was the Top 16 & Nick was up against South Australia's Jack Widdas who Qualified 3rd in his insanely powered RB Skyline

It was a tight battle & the Judges couldn't pick a winner & called for a rerun. The next battle was also a close run between these two guys & after the judges looking at the instant replay 4 times called for another rerun. Not wanting to let the judges have any hesitation on this next run Nick gave it his all & put on a fantastic chase & lead lap to get all 3 judges into a unanimous decision giving Nick the win & moving onto the top 8.

Next was Andy Gray from Japan in his insanely quick JZX. Andy put on a fast lead lap & had a few car lengths gap on Nick as they entered the first corner, but by the exit of the second corner Nick was where he needed to be & finished his chase lap strong. On Nick's lead lap he put on a text book run but unfortunately wast enough & the win was awarded to Andy.

This meant Nick finished the day in 6th position banking some good points for the series & is now in 3rd position heading into the last round in April at Calder Park.
